Walk the Talk
Visit to Tontokrom
We arrived in tontokrom at 11:15am. We went to the house of one elder who led us to the masjid. At the masjid, we were joined by the Imam and elders of the Muslim community. They welcomed us. Amir Abdul-Aziz told them our mission and the activities for the day.The Imam gave us a go ahead and thanked us for coming.
The Imam complained that, they needed a Madrasa and a teacher to teach their kids the Islamic knowledge since not all of them can afford to send them to the cities.
One of the elders reminded them of the fact that, though the facilities for teaching Arabic studies were not enough, the initiative was once introduced but it failed because students were not cooperating and parents were not supervising. He advised the leaders in their position as parents to not just talk, but walk the talk.
They promised to do their part as parents and leaders of the community to help their children. They pleaded with us to help them accomplish this establishment.
Our first presentation was to start at 12 noon which was an hour before the Imam's khutbah.
Dawah
Meanwhile, in the masjid, the first presentation was ongoing. The topic was Tawheed and it was given by Issah Aniagyei. Abdul Mumeen then spoke on Unity, Leadership and Followership.Saratu led the special session for the women. She spoke on several essential things a woman should know. She spoke about Etiquette of Jumuah Prayers, upbringing of children in the Islamic way, unity amongst the Muslim ummah, and living peacefully with rivals.
Meanwhile other sisters also gathered the children to teach them some basic knowledge of the deen; what to say before and after eating, use of the right and left hands etc.
We presented the donations to the elders, they thanked us, prayed for us and started distributing the items. We said goodbye and returned to Kumasi.
