The 37 Military Hospital Visitation
Seeking Permission (August 2016)
Bismillaah. Alhamdulillaah. Allaahumma swalli alaa Muhammad' wa sallim. Our motivation for the hospital visits has always been from the Quran & ahaadiith.
"For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to (all that is) Good" Al-Baqara:148.
When was the last time we visited the sick?
Among the many ahaadeeth which speak of the virtues of visiting the sick, Muslim narrated: the Prophet ( ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ ) said:
“When the Muslim visits his (sick) Muslim brother, he is harvesting the fruits of Paradise until he returns.”Allaahu akbar. May Allah accept our humble efforts.
Preamble
After the successful Korle-bu teaching hospital visitations, we decided to switch focus to the 37 military hospital, also in Accra.
One of our very good sisters was admitted at the intensive care unit of the hospital, so we frequented there as well. Alhamdulillaah, she is doing far better and recovering well.
General Ward Visit
As usual, personalized visits are allowed every time but in order to do a general-ward-visit, we needed to seek permission from the hospital authority.
Sister Libaba, a dedicated member of the Sadaqa Train medical team sought the help of a Muslim army personnel; Major Abdullah at the 37military hospital. Alhamdulillaah, he helped us to draft a cover letter, for permission to visit a ward.
The Phone Interview
We were directed to an "Army-Major" in charge of such visits by charitable groups. When we went, she wasn't around, so we called her on phone. She asked many questions regarding our intended visit. We made it clear that we wanted to visit a section of the patients to encourage and pray for them. And also donate a few things to them.
The Major in turn, explained to us the rules and regulations regarding such visits to the hospital. We agreed and promised to prepare for the visit by end of September 2016 in-shaa Allah.
Preparations
We have began collecting donations for the hospital visit. Remember:
“Whoever visits a sick person or visits a brother in Islam, a caller cries out to him: ‘May you be happy, may your walking be blessed, and may you occupy a dignified position in Paradise” Saheeh al-Tirmizhi.
What you can do?
"Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." Tirmizhi
Please donate whatever you can; foodstuffs, provisions, cash, etc.
We plan to continue this sunnah at least once every month. At the end of this September is another sunnah-reviving visitation to the 37 military hospital, in shaa Allah.
Contact us if you want to donate or join the blessed visits.
