A Race for Khayr
Ramadan Hospital Visitation Report
BismiLlaah. Alhamdulillaah. Allaah Subhānahū wa ta'ālā says:"For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to (all that is) Good" Al Baqara:148.When was the last time we visited the sick? This visitation initiative had long been on our minds and with Ramadan came the opportunity to race for khayr. There are many ahaadeeth which speak of the virtues of visiting the sick, such as the words of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم):
Fruits of Paradise
“When the Muslim visits his (sick) Muslim brother, he is harvesting the fruits of Paradise until he returns.” Narrated by Muslim.
“Whoever visits a sick person or visits a brother in Islam, a caller cries out to him: ‘May you be happy, may your walking be blessed, and may you occupy a dignified position in Paradise” Saheeh al-Tirmizhi.We selected the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for the project. Our first visit was on Sunday the 12th June 2016 (7th Ramadan 1437). Broadcasts were made on social media inviting fellow Muslims to join us in reviving this important sunnah. At 4:00 pm, we gathered in front of the new Emergency Center and mapped out which ward to visit and how to share the fruit and beverage donations we took along. And this was our routine every Sunday, for the next 3 weeks of Ramadan.
Through this initiative, we were able to visit and bring smiles to the medical, fevers, pediatric and surgery wards. AlhamduliLlaah!

"They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous." (Al Imran:114)
Wa biLlaahi Tawfeeq. Wa swallaLlaahu alaa nabiyyinaa Muhammad. AlhamduliLlaah for everything. May He hasten the recovery of our sick ones, heal us all and accept our humble efforts, forgive our mistakes and continue to grant us all His Rahma till jannah alFirdaus. Aameen!!!
